Rachel, also known as Rae’s WAY Overdoing It! She loves experimenting with new styles every time she gets dressed. She believes style is constantly evolving and we should always be open to trying new things! We’re so glad you could take this interview and we’re so excited to be able to learn all things YOU! Let’s start from the beginning! When did you fall for fashion? I started picking out my own outfits when I was 2 years old. However, at 12 years old, I became much more opinionated in my fashion choices and wanted to wear as many colors and patterns as possible! This phase lasted for several years, after which I experimented with wearing only dark colors, followed by a “classic” fashion stage where I focused on primary colors. I’ve always loved trying out new looks, and I still try out new outfits to this day! Would you wear the very first outfit you put together now? Oh, definitely not! Like I said, I combined every color and pattern imaginable back then. Way too mismatched for my taste now! What is the best part of creating your look? Honestly, it’s thinking about how cute it will look in pictures when I wear it the next day! Do you like a theme when it comes to putting together a look? Yes! I think every outfit should have a specific theme, vibe, or aesthetic. However, I like to vary my aesthetics daily, from feminine light pink button-downs to street-style baggy sweaters and beanies. What is the most consistent advice you have to give when trying a new look? It’s crucial to find a happy medium between trying new things and wearing outfits you feel comfortable in. If you try an outfit that is wildly different than your everyday attire, you may go out and realize you don’t feel confident in it. This feeling could ruin your day. Because of this, it is important to slowly try new additions to your wardrobe. Are there any challenges to coming up with THE vision you know is just perfect for yourself but might not be ready to take the leap? Sometimes it can be hard to get the certain look I’m going for if I don’t have the right accessories, but I love to improvise and use clothing in ways I didn’t think of before! How important is branding when it comes to style? I’ve never been one to flaunt the names of the clothes I wear or purposely wear branded clothes, except when it comes to Adidas. I really love the look of their logo. I like to wear all my Adidas wear at once! Is there a style that is a NO GO every time? I’ve never been one to wear crop tops or choco sandals. It’s just never been my thing! What is a trend that is always a YES?! RINGS! I want my fingers full of rings with every outfit! How do you set yourself apart to keep your uniqueness? I think what sets me apart is how comfortable I am in the wide variety of styles I wear. Where does your confidence come from? My confidence comes from the love and support I get from my followers and friends every day. Waking up and knowing that people will love me no matter what encourages me to keep creating content! What is the most daring decision you have made so far in your career? I started a photography business because I wanted to make others feel comfortable and stylish in front of the camera. I want others to feel as confident and beautiful in their own skin as I do. What is the most daring style you’ve done? I tried spiking my hair at home one time, but I didn’t wear it out! Haha Is there anything in your closet you’re updating right now that you would like to pass on to others? I’m currently trying to incorporate hats into my everyday looks. My current obsession is bucket hats! How can people follow your fashion journey? Every Friday, I post my latest look on Instagram @raes_way_overdoing_it. I also tag the brands I’m wearing and engage in the comments with my followers and friends! Last but not least, leave us with your best style advice you’ve received EVER. Accessories are what make an outfit look put together! I’m talking about the necklaces, leg warmers, scrunchies, and sunglasses! These finishing touches make your outfit look well thought out and make YOU look like an Instagram baddie!
